Dr. Sam Gupta
Dr. Sam Gupta, known as “Dr. Sam” to patients and staff, graduated with honors from the University of Toronto. He immediately began to earn awards and certificates with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and complex restorations. One of those recognitions was a gold medal for excellence in oral medicine and diagnosis, leading Dr. Sam to share his knowledge with dental students at University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. He also participates in monthly continuing education courses to ensure that patients receive the benefits of updated skills and knowledge.
He knew, even as a child, that he wanted to become involved in the field of medicine. Dr. Sam gravitated to dentistry as a profession that combines the best of science and artistry. He says, “The hands-on component of dentistry appeals to me, as well as the opportunity to build rapport with patients.” His passion for dentistry might be compared to the enthusiasm others have for travel or car collections. “I find it very exciting that the field of dentistry always offers something new to learn,” Dr. Sam says. When asked what he enjoys most about the profession, he simply answers, “Everything!”
That is the primary reason he chose not to specialize in any one area. Dr. Sam embraces each day’s unique dental challenges with a natural knack for solving problems, enjoying the variety. “I make sure patients understand their options to make informed treatment decisions, so that we can work together toward dental and health goals.”
Although the practice continues to grow, Dr. Sam and his team maintain exceptional customer service. He personally makes it a priority to treat patients with respect and understanding, as if they were members of his own family. Patients often comment on his gentle, caring demeanor, and his attentiveness. With this sincere approach, he develops lasting relationships.
When Dr. Sam isn’t wearing his white coat, he likes to spend leisure time playing golf or squash, and his life outside of the office revolves around his two young sons. Dr. Sam likes to support local charities and sports teams, and volunteers his time at area churches to educate people and answer any questions they have regarding oral health and care.
My inspiration was my uncle and after finishing grade 12, I went to shadow him. He was a cardiologist and I said I would like to become a doctor one day and a surgeon going towards that as my goal.
My uncle said to become a doctor is great and you should look into it for sure, but have you given any thought to dentistry and I said no I haven’t. He said why don’t you go and meet my friend Arun and see if you like it and give yourself another goal. And so, I went and chatted to another dentist and really liked what I saw and one thing led to another from there. My philosophy is to keep it simple and straight.
Teeth and gums they are part and parcel of what we are as a human we need them and we got to solve all the issues that come along with it.
My philosophy is to do it in a gentlest kindest manner with whatever needs to be done and keep it simple.

Dr. Liliana Otrocol
“Dr. Lili” was attracted to the medical field with a natural joy in helping others. Shortly after beginning her studies, she found her niche in dentistry. Dr. Lili joined the Mount Royal Dental team in 2005, upon graduation from University of Toronto. The match has been a good one. She shares the passion felt throughout the practice. She says, “Dr. Sam and the team truly work together to provide patients with the best possible service and experience.”
Now with more than a decade of experience in this career, Dr. Lili finds great professional fulfillment in guiding a nervous patient through treatment. She makes it a top priority to extend a personal approach to every procedure, from a simple filling to a complicated extraction. “Customer service and patient care is extremely important to me. I am committed to making sure patients are comfortable, and that each one leaves with a smile. That’s how I earn their trust, over time.”
Dr. Lili maintains active membership in the Burlington Dental Association and the Ontario Dental Association. She attends many continuing education courses to stay current on the latest dental technologies and techniques.
In her personal time, Dr. Lili travels all over the world with friends and family.
Dr. Swati Khanna
As an experienced professional and graduate from the University of Toronto, Dr. Khanna practices all areas of family dentistry from root canal therapy, to dentures and extractions as well as Children’s dentistry. With her gentle touch, soft spoken tone and her motherly nature, she helps even the most anxious child feel comfortable and relaxed. “When children sit in my chair, I help them feel as if they are in total control of the situation and can stop me whenever they want. I find that this melts away all the fear and puts them to ease right away! I would want someone to take the extra time and extra care in treating my son, and this is the attitude with which I treat children.” Dr. Khanna is committed to providing quality care and oral health education to the children of Burlington with her participation in the ‘Brush-a-mania’ programs throughout elementary schools.
Dr. Khanna’s involvement in community and outreach programs is easily admired. Providing dental care to those who are underprivileged in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic was not only professionally rewarding but was a great achievement of hers. “The expressions of joy I was able to bring to these families will live with me forever,” she said.
When Dr. Khanna is not in the office, she is busy at home raising her & Dr. Sam’s two young boys. She also enjoys nature, reading in her down time and yoga.
Dr. Hina Sohail
Dr. Hina Sohail grew up in Toronto and completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at McMaster University. She then went on to obtain her Master of Business Administration from the DeGroote School of Business.
Her love for science and helping others sparked her interest in the profession of dentistry. She completed her dental education at the University of Manitoba and has since been working in Ontario as a licensed dentist.
She is an active member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry. She also routinely attends continuing education courses and is trained and certified in Nitrous Oxide (“laughing gas”) and oral sedation.
Dr. Sohail makes the oral health of her patients her top priority. She provides services in all aspects of general dentistry and believes in a comprehensive and conservative approach.
Her friendly and comforting demeanor makes her a popular choice with our younger patients. She believes in educating her patients about their treatment options and allowing them to make informed treatment decisions. When she is not at work, she likes traveling, gardening, and spending time with her cat, Buddy.
Dr. Abhishek Apratim
Dr. Abhishek Apratim is very passionate about dentistry and treats his patients with utmost care and compassion. His journey started back in India where he did his initial dental education and completed his Masters in prosthodontics. He has worked as a specialist in India for 6 years. He is also fond of teaching, which landed him as a faculty in one of dental schools in Malaysia.
His quest for knowledge and honing new skills brought him to the United States where he graduated from the prestigious Boston University School of Dental Medicine with high honors and is included in the national dental honor society (Omicron Kappa Upsilon) in 2020.
He has an experience of working with various cultures and ethnicities. He practices all aspects of dentistry including oral surgery, endodontics, esthetic dentistry, and dentures. With vast experience and intensive education, he will provide quality dental care with his calm and caring personality. When he is not doing dentistry, you will find him listening to music, travelling, and spending time with family.
Orthodontist
Dr. Shakti Singh
Dr. Shakti Singh finished his residency in Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, and in 2015 became a licensed Orthodontic Specialist in Ontario. As a young dental student he was always fascinated by the “magic” done by orthodontists and their ability to move teeth and the huge psychosocial impact it caused in patient’s lives. He knew early in his dental career that he could make a positive impact on patients lives by practicing Orthodontics.
Originally, from New Delhi, Dr. Singh was an outstanding student accumulating numerous awards and achievements, including the Indian Dental Association Scholarship for a 1st place standing in the final year dental exams. Dr Singh immigrated to Canada and in his quest to become a dentist, he cleared the Canadian Dental Board Examinations in one go. He in fact ranked first (throughout Canada) in the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge exam administered by the Canadian Dental Board in 2012.
Wanting to pursue orthodontics Dr. Singh was able to secure one of the only 3 spots available throughout Canada for residency in Orthodontics, for internationally trained orthodontists. This incidentally was the only spot available in Ontario at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto
Dr. Singh is a lifelong learner who consistently elevates his knowledge of orthodontic techniques and technologies. Dental Specialists
Oral Surgeon: Dr. Robert Barron
Dr. Barron’s career began with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from Tufts University in Boston. Then came an internship in New York, before returning to Toronto to begin private general practice. Dr. Barron traveled to Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem, Israel where he interned as part of his advanced training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The final years of that training were completed at University of Toronto.
He has maintained an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Vaughan since 2004, and joined Mount Royal Dental in 2014. He received a warm welcome from patients and from the team, winning them over with a caring personality.
Dr. Barron has a special interest in oral surgery including general anesthesia, planned and immediate placement of dental implants, bone grafting, sinus lift, complex extractions, trauma, and pathology. He is Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Ontario Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Barron is both a Fellow and Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesia and is actively involved in the American Society of Dental Anesthesia. He has authored a number of papers and presented on oral and maxillofacial surgery in Canada, Israel, and the United States.
Dr. Barron is an avid skier in winter weather, and “grill king” in the summertime. He and his wife have three active sons.
Periodontist(gum specialist): Dr. Amy Yeung
Dr. Yeung is Mount Royal Dental’s in-house periodontist, specializing in gum health. She works closely with patients to help them achieve healthy gum tissue and bone levels, as a strong foundation for all types of dental treatments.
Dr. Yeung earned a Master’s degree in periodontal studies from the University of Toronto. She has been involved in a great deal of research in metabolic disease. In recent years, she has been recognized for her research projects and academics, acknowledging the thoroughness and quality of her work.
Patients are quick to realize that Dr. Yeung brings sincerity and passion to her practice of periodontics. She says, “My patients usually have advanced gum disease or missing teeth, or they have reached the stage where they need oral surgery. I make sure they understand treatment recommendations and are comfortable with the plan. That creates a motivation to work together, to achieve improved oral health for the patient.”
The transition to becoming part of the Mount Royal Dental team in 2009 was seamless. She quickly earned the trust of patients and peers with a caring personality, and vast knowledge and expertise. Dr. Yeung is pleased to be at a practice with a warm atmosphere, and a welcoming staff that makes everyone feel at home. Current technologies are at hand, and the specialists, general dentists, and staff work together to ensure that patients get comprehensive care.
While she devotes many hours to periodontal practice and research, Dr. Yeung and her husband spend most of their spare time watching their two daughters grow! They also enjoy cooking and travel.
Endodontist: Dr. Elizabeth Geisler
Dr. Elizabeth Geisler received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with Honours from the University of Toronto in 2013. She then went on and completed a 1-year, hospital-based general practice residency at a Level 1 Trauma Center in New York. Dr. Geisler then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she completed her Endodontic training at Nova Southeastern University in 2016.
Dr. Geisler is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is also in the process of becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Geisler is also a part-time clinical instructor in Endodontics for undergraduate dental students at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Geisler is a member of the following organizations: Ontario Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, and is on the committee of the Ontario Society of Endodontists.
In her free time, Dr. Geisler enjoys spending time with her husband and family, baking, reading, and staying involved in the community.
