A guide to advanced, comfortable, and discreet orthodontic treatment with Invisalign®

Our skilled team at Mount Royal Dental in Burlington, Ontario, includes several specialists. For instance, our specialists include Dr. Shakti Singh, an orthodontist. Dr. Singh has advanced training and experience diagnosing and treating malocclusion (misaligned teeth and bite imbalances). 

Depending on your needs, Dr. Singh may recommend Invisalign® clear aligners treatment. A modern alternative to fixed, silver-coloured metal braces, Invisalign® involves using high-tech software and tools (such as the iTero® digital scanner) to comfortably, non-invasively, and predictably plan treatment. This approach all but eliminates the “human error” that is associated with traditional, manual impression-taking. Patients have peace of mind that the aligners will fit their mouths precisely and comfortably, which supports the best patient experience and prompt and effective resolution of crowding, crooked and otherwise unevenly spaced teeth, and bite issues.

What to expect 

As with all procedures at our office, treatment starts with a consultation. Dr. Singh will use advanced diagnostics like the iTero® scanner to collect accurate and detailed information that further informs effective treatment plans. Due to the cutting-edge nature of Invisalign® orthodontics, Dr. Singh can even show you exactly how your teeth will move throughout the treatment process. Think of it as “try before you buy”; you can actually see how your new smile will look post-treatment, too! 

These technologies are also used to fabricate the clear aligners or the “magic” behind the treatment. These aligners are made from a flexible, safe, and transparent proprietary thermoplastic. So, they are not visible in the smile and do not rub up against the insides of the mouth. Notably, unlike conventional orthodontic treatments (like braces), you are in the driver’s seat. You may remove your aligners each day as directed by Dr. Singh. Generally, it is advised only to remove the aligners when brushing and flossing your teeth or when eating meals. Failure to comply with treatment can interfere with and delay your progress and results. 

You will be given an initial series of aligners. Each aligner is marked and worn in a particular order. It is necessary to wear them in the correct order, as each aligner tray is slightly different and aligns with a different stage of treatment. Trays are typically worn for 3-7 days depending on your course of treatment.  But, we will provide detailed instructions tailored to you and your one-of-a-kind needs and characteristics. 

We will also want to see you periodically throughout treatment. That way, Dr. Singh can evaluate your mouth and ensure that treatment is progressing on schedule and as planned. He can also provide you with your next series of aligner trays.
